How to use NextUp

NextUp is here to help

It’s really simple to use. All you need is your phone.

(And if you don’t have a phone, just head out to your store or location and they will take care of you like they normally would.)

As NextUp is rolling out around New Zealand, keep an eye out for our virtual queue and check-in system at supermarkets and other locations.

When you arrive, follow the instructions of the staff and you’ll be added to the virtual queue if there is a line, or head right in. If there is a line, you can then wait somewhere safe and comfortable - like your car - and let NextUp hold your place in the queue. When it’s your turn to enter, NextUp will message you.

Tips to shoppers if your store uses NextUp TXT:

Follow the instructions at the store.

A store will probably ask you to TXT a message to a number. So if it says “send a TXT to 123 with the message Hello” then open your Messages / Texts on your phone, write a new TXT to the number displayed (eg. 123) at the store and write the message keyword (eg. Hello) displayed at store.

Make sure you send only the word displayed and spell it right - no spaces - otherwise we may not receive your booking. Also check the number you need to send it to.

It is important you always get a TXT back confirming you are in the queue.

If you don’t get this TXT confirmation, check what you sent to make sure it was correct. If you still don’t hear back, check with the store staff - they will help you.

Let us take a little time to process the TXT.

It’s busy on the mobile network out there. You should get a confirmation of being in the queue in under 2 minutes.

When it is your turn to enter, you will receive an invite TXT.

At most locations you’ll need to be out front so you can check-in within a couple of minutes. It is important you are close by so you don’t lose your spot. Any disruption to the flow of the queue will affect someone else.

If you think it has been too long and you have not heard back with your TXT inviting you to come in to shop, just check with the store staff - they can check the digital queue for you.

Be Kind.

This system is designed for your safety and comfort. Please treat it with respect. We want stores to keep using it. If you TXT and don’t show up to the store, it will make it harder for stores to provide the service.

Any probs? Just ask the store staff!

We have a number of new services coming, so follow us on this site and we’ll keep in touch. As always, we encourage you to keep social distancing, shopping normally and looking out for one another.
